0:16: so what does it mean when we talk about

web accessibility

0:23: well web accessibility is allowing

people access to your website more

0:26: specifically people with disabilities

they like visual impairments hearing

0:33: impairments cognitive impairments those

types of things and right now most

0:38: websites are not accessible to those

people and that's that's a market that

0:41: you're missing out on

0:49: so why should your business care about

web accessibility well number one it's

0:55: the law back in 1990 the Americans with

Disabilities Act was created to ensure

1:06: that people with disabilities would not

be discriminated against in business so

1:12: what are the benefits to having a

accessible website number one let's

1:17: let's just clear the air okay Americans

with Disabilities Act we call it A.D.A

1:22: that's that's the terms that we're using

ADA compliance, don't be scared by that

1:27: term I mean there are real benefits to

having an ADA compliant website think

1:33: of it as accessibility you're opening

the doors for people with disabilities

1:35: and just because they have a disability

it doesn't mean that they want to be

1:40: that they don't want to be independent

they want the ability to do business

1:44: with you I mean like if say for example

your pool company

1:47: why would somebody with any kind of

impairment you want to do business with

1:51: me well think about it they want to be

independent and I got a pool that's cool

1:54: and then paired but hey I need to come

clean it for me if they can access your

2:01: website, boom, they're in so think about

this you know the annual disposable

2:06: income in America for people with

disabilities is five hundred forty-four

2:11: billion dollars you're opening the doors

to more business for yourself number two

2:16: by making your website A.D.A

compliant accessible you're basically

2:21: future proofing your your business for

the voice age I mean have you seen

2:25: people there on their phone and they

they talk to it to get directions to get

2:30: information about a website if your

website is not accessible these virtual

2:37: assistants such as Google Voice, Alexa,

and Siri, they can't access the

2:40: information on your website so they're

gonna skip your website go somewhere

2:43: else so that's business in this right

there and then the other thing that it

2:48: does for you by making your website fully

accessible is it optimizes your website

2:53: for organic SEO

okay so that's just those are just

2:56: some of the things so for example you

know search engines will be able to read

3:00: your site more thoroughly which

increases your SEO just a little bit at

3:04: a time so it's a great thing

3:12: all right so here we are ADA compliance

you know the law and you know the

3:18: benefits of it next up is how do I check

my website to see if I'm accessible or

3:22: not you know to see what errors I have

on my website and see how to fix them

3:26: well first of all there's several free

tools out there on the internet you

3:29: can check out or just make it easy for

yourself there's a link below click that

3:34: and we'll do a scan for you okay the

next thing is you know talk to your web

3:39: designer you know if they have not heard

of web accessibility or are not familiar

3:46: with WCAG 2.0 or 2.1 double-A

standards I suggested you drop them

3:54: and find a new web designer. We here at DigiPro

Media are professionals and we know

3:58: accessibility for more information on
